Who has a silvertip brush from Larry over at whipped dog? What are everyone's thoughts on them?
I bought a silvertip knot from him and put it in my own brush. Love it.
How is it in terms of shedding hairs?
I haven't noticed any and I've been using it at least six months. Great deal for 20 bucks.
My brother and I have been using these brushes for 6/7months (1 brush each, not sharing!).
Seem good to me and neither have shed.
I just ordered a silvertip brush from him as well, mostly because it was the best value around, after reading this thread, I'm looking forward to getting it in hand!
Larry is a great guy and i have bought a lot of stuff from him.
This silvertip brush is one of my best and for the money you can't go wrong.
I think it lost 2 hairs in 2 years.

It's my beast and love it.
Put it beside my Duke 3 just to compare it's size.
And i loved this handle when i saw it on his site.
I just ordered one of his silvertips in the burgundy resin handle.
I got one silvertip and one week after I received it I ordered two more for my dad and my father in law... in my case my brush loses one or two hairs from time to time but seems each time is less often.
I have a silvertip. Excellent, and no problem shedding hairs.
I honesty prefer to take a few minutes to lather to really get it in there. I'll do a once over of my whole face quick to get lather on my beard and start the beard-lather-absorption process (technical, I know) and then go to town, working it in really well to get optimal-level-ten beard-lather-absorption.
Alright I may have made up some terminology, but what can I say...I love latherin! :tu
I have a silvertip with ivory resin handle from Larry. Excellent brush, really love it. It sheds a few hairs every time I use it, but then again maybe I'm just hard on it? I dunno. I still enjoy it. For the money that other folks charge, you can't beat it in my opinion.
I don't think dog hair would make a very good brush. Even if you whip him he still won't perform very well.
Har har.
How's whipped dog's shipping?
In my experience he ships very quickly and cheaply.

My silvertip from whipped dog with my omega boar and cheap best badger brush
I bought a 30mm silvertip from whipped dog and its a damn fine brush. I couldn't find a comparable brush for 3x the price.
I got the shipping email today, ordered a custom handled silvertip brush 6-ish weeks ago. For the price and for a custom spec'd brush, it seemed worth the wait (after I established my initial stockpile of a few razors/brushes/creams/etc, I find I have been buying most of my equipment this way!). I'll give a review when I get it in a day or two.
Larry's prices include shipping, IIRC. And he ships out fairly quickly.
Just received my 30mm silvertip from Larry, and this thing is impressive. It's large and dense, which is exactly what I wanted, and is very soft. I was surprised at how much water it absorbed and the first time I lathered with it I immediately realized you have to use much more soap with this brush to achieve the right consistency simply because of how much the brush sucks up. I got the firehouse pottery handle with my initials monogrammed on it. Overall, I don't know how you could go wrong with any combo from Larry, I'm very pleased with the product.
Excellent communication and the cheapest prices all over the world in shipping.
just got my first whipped dog silvertip. 24mm 50 mm loft....resin handle.
the brush is nice...really soft hairs and overall nice stuff.
personally....its a bit too short for me...i only bowl lather and the handle is a bit small since it doesnt rest on the ledge of the bowl i use.Attachment 155567
The hair kinda falls out after a while. I haven't used mine in ages for that reason....plus the one I made with a TGN knot is better
Cheap brushes are not always the best choice long term, just like cheap razors.
You see the term Cheap every day by newbs on this site, buy cheap, you get cheap.
I've got three WD Silvertips, and they are as good or better than any other brush I've tried. I'd buy more without reservation.
I've been using a whipped dog silver tip brush for well over 12months and it hasn't lost more than a hair or 2.
I'm happy with it!
One thing that I would highly recommend with these brushes is opting to have him drill the handle deeper for an extra $5. Otherwise, IMO, it's got too high of a loft and over-blooms. Very difficult to use with soaps if not drilled.
Yes, $5 for the additional time and his labor. It is the best deal out there.Quote:
He Charges to lower the loft?
