Not being factious here
Put them in handles
At 80mm you most likely dont even need a handle:)
Yes handles, But I have no access to a lathe to make something cool, I was trying to come up with something different. I have looked around the net and haven't come across anything that strikes my fancy
Have you check out this guide in the Wiki?
Making a brush with no lathe - Straight Razor Place Wiki
Now we are talking! That I could do. THANKS
so do they look legit? they were pretty cheap compared to what a silver tip brush costs at a shop.
I mean I hope they arent dog or some kind of other critter.
Hey pixel,,, They would look good in a socket maybe, 1/2 drive or 3/4 ? The bottom of an old light bulb. Hmmm you could just take up wittling ! Might take awhile but you could make anything with a chunk of good wood and a knife.
Gotta do what ya gotta do.
1/2 in drive works:) http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...ne/bsbrush.jpg
Is the screw on the bottom for adjusting the loft?
leadbelly what about just gluing the knots into the mouth of a stuffed squirrel?
You could use some 32mm electrical conduit, it comes in grey or orange, or even comms which is white.
So here was my process...
found a piece of firewood, chopped it into a square, shaped it with a saw, drilled the hole and let it spin on the drill while holding sand paper of different grits until I didnt have anymore patience. found some oil oil I used on my deck, and some marine contact glue set the knot...not square, not a circle...definitely not fancy but it turned out OK looking.. Will give it a try tomorrow.

Are you on crack. That looks awesome. The wood figuring is really cool.
Nice work, looks great. That is definitely a BFK, you might need an extra puck of soap.
rs,
Tack
It came out good, don't put yourself down. I can honestly say that I would own one.
There are true craftsmen that have amazing tools and equally impressive talent to make incredible handles.
Then there are bushcrafters that whittle some fire wood and come up with something unique and special.
While the craftsman may produce something that is very desirable to many, the bushcrafter may come up with something even more desirable to one. It is all about mindset.
In the end, I'll suggest that the item only really needs to be desirable to its owner...after all, how often is anyone else going to be in your shave den?
Nice work!
BTW, there is nothing wrong with producing more and developing skills and knowledge, but I'd suggest hanging on to that one;)
Very true, thanks everyone for the encouragement
Using spalted birch for firewood.. :dropjaw:
Hehe, great find inside a log intended for burning. It looks brilliant, and I'm envious.
Good job! :tu
That is a fantastic looking brush!! The grain and pattern in the wood really pops and the unconventional shape works well. Nicely done sir!
I'm constantly turning fire wood. Its amazing what beautiful figuring you can find in those stupid logs. Fire wood also makes for great natural edge bowls.
I love what you did here, It's unique and one of a kind. Excellent work!
I guess the good thing with firewood is that you were going to burn it anyway, so if it all goes wrong you can still burn it and have lost nowt. :)
####FINAL REPORT####
So the first shave with the new brush
Yes this brush holds a TON of soap. Which is good because I like variety.
If you can imagine what it would feel like to get licked in the face by a huge lion or another animal with a giant warm tongue with enough scruff and backbone but soft at the same time ....it was like that. I found myself lathering maybe more than I should enjoying the fruit of my labor.....UNTIL I dropped my razor in the sink chipping the porcelain (blamed it on the 4 yr olds hot-wheels) and cut my finger of all things...finished the shave wondering why the shave felt so bad then noticed some chips in the blade as well... So I moved the razor into last position and grabbed a fresh one.. I will start a new handle this weekend
Nice job. I just picked up a resin handle from Larry for making my first brush...I wanted a handle already made to take out some of the "guess work"....well maybe there isn't that much guess work but I wanted to save making my own handle for my second brush!
Those knots look huge though! And here I thought my 24mm was too big :p
ps, I see your natty beard oil!
