looking for brush maker?
I'm sorry if i have posted this in the wrong place but this seamed like the best choice. I am looking for someone that can turn and make a brush for me. Here is the idea, My dad wants to get into straight shaving so i have decided to make him a whole set for xmass ( he has no idea i'm doing this ).
He lives in Alaska and loves everything out doors, so i have some whale bone that i am making some scales out of for him and a nice blade to go with it. Now i am working on buying a whale vertebra and would like a brush made from it, it is very old and hard like stone but if anyone can make me a brush from it please let me know. If i can get 2 pieces then maybe a bowl as well. Thanks for reading and i look forward to hearing from someone.

I have no idea who is capable of turning whale vertebra but that is awesome.
Pixelfixed is an awesome brush maker if you want to check out his work and contact him.
Also HarryWally made my personal brush and I am very satisfied. But it is out of maple. ...not whale. (:

No worries I moved it to the Brushmaker's Alcove,,, Just a new Specialized spot in the Workshop :)

Have made some bone brushes in the past, all depends on how pourous the bone is to get a good outcome.
Today I would resin impregnate the bone,I think it would be mandatory for a bone bowl. JMO

Pixelfixed has my vote!
If you ask me, there should be a thread for your brushes, a gallery of your work of sorts...

Are many on SRP that make fantastic handles,we all do things in a differant manner which makes for a nice diversity.
Thank you for the accolades.

I was holding my breath thinking i might not hear anything on this because it is bone and whale bone at that! Glad to see there people up to it :)
Pixelfixed, I love the idea of the resin as a coating, the bone is petrified so it really is stone so im not sure how you would work with that but i am open to anything :beer1:

Just a reminder-keep any business negotiations to a PM.

I spent some time in a shop that machines granite.
You'd be amazed what can be done with slow feeds and speeds, and diamond cutters.
