Blackthorn Brush
Hiya gents.
Attempted to make my third brush this weekend.
I had an old Irish shillelagh that I used to make a set of scales. There was a nub left close to the main stump I thought might make a nice brush shape.
I seem to lean towards natural curves in my handles and basically just smoothed the profile, removed the brush area with a drill press, making sure to set it deep enough for the glue expansion, and added a small celtic triquetra cause it looked nice. Restrained it to still look shillelaghy-ish and voila.
Very hard wood with a great grain to it. I still have some stock so am going to try to turn a few on the lathe as well and may go with a light stain..
cheers.

Very nice work.
Has a classic style about it.
A snort of Irish whiskey and a cigar would be a combo here!!
