It's funny Bill - when I read the title of your posts I try to imagine what's it's going to look like before I click. I'm always more impressed with what you did than I imagined :)
Great job
Looks like a spring loaded hyper lather reactor. :<0) Another fine piece.
Caramel & dark chocolate,,,,,,,,,,,,,,:D
Well done Bill!!

Your pieces always look so precise. Clean lines and flawless transition from one material to another.
I do a little bit of mixing of materials. It's the contact area of the two materials I struggle with, sometimes I'm left with a seam that isn't tight, probably a clamping issue. Other times it's not straight which can be interesting but not when you didn't try it lol.....

The Key IMO is the glued faces need to be machined within .0005,dead nutz sq. My Crosslide on a metal lathe allows that.
I think it would be near impossible to do on wood lathe with a gouge.
My lathe is also my clamping device, nothing is removed until all is glued up and doweled in place, than all is turned in place until I have perfect solid round, than it is cutoff and moved to the wood lathe.

The above finished,no glue joints,no gaps.
