What did you use in the vacuum chamber? That looks gorgeous by the way I may have to get you to make me one.
Yes, but it isn't a crucial time period, Antlers drop every year anyway and they do so by the animal stopping the blood circulation to them and the antlers hardening and turning to bone.. Velvet covered or an early season kill you would need to pay more attention to.. But I mostly work with sheds or antlers that have been around for a few years so they are well dried..
Basically Bill if you didn't kill the Elk a month ago I wouldn't worry to much, they are probably well dried and turned to bone :)
I have been using Daly's Seafin in my Vacuum Chamber and getting good penetration and hardening
