Plenty of handle-makers here. I suspect this may be the best knot we could do?

Thats perfect! The weave pattern should really help with exfoliation. Im concerned however about the synthetic material you chose to use. I fancy natural fibers myself!
Most definitely can do better, here are some for further inspiration:

Nice knot Tom. I'll have to learn to soap my face with that one!
Ill take one of each knot ive seen here today! Using vie-longs horse/boar mix as inspiration i was thinking of arranging a knot in such a way that either horse or boar would comprise te center surrounded by badger. Im dreaming of good blend of qualities of both fibers. I noticed my vie-long wasnt as flexible as my badger brush so that is why the outside would be comprised of badger. Also it would increase the water retention hopefully.
Im curious what OP stands for now?
A great mixed badger/boar knot can be found in the Vulfix 404 mixed "Grosvenor" brush, is an interesting brush, but as mentioned by another member, seems to be the worst of both worlds. Personally, I didn't mind it, but is fun to use simply to change things up. Mixed hair brushes seem hard to do very well IMO....
already been done ,, no great reviews , like Prhank said I heard worst of both worlds,, so no need in reinventing the wheel so unless your just phishing this idea wont go far , cause no one here ties their own knot sorry tc
I've made my own horse hair knots, after that experience I'm pretty sure I'll leave it to the professionals, what a PITA
I made a 55mm boar knot, took a week,never again:(

Now THAT's a brush.....................for Goliath!
I'd like to give making my own knot a shot. Maybe get some samples of badger bunches from Alibaba and have at er.
I did not care for the Grosvenor brush at all, but the Semogue Mistura, also a mixed badger/boar is awesome and remains one of my favorite brushes. For that reason alone, I believe that it is possible to make a mixed hair brush that works well and it is a lofty (semi-inadvertant pun) goal.
I cannot imagine 'tying' a knot. Anyone have a video on how it is done? I suppose modern ones are bundled somehow and the plug is injected in somehow. Has to be super tight, I would think.
Here you go. Straight from the Simpson factory.

Tom, I knew they were bundled together & if you buy the knots only they are glued to the size knot hole they are made for but in the video's Harry sent, it looks like they are gluing them together then the last one shows her gluing them in the handles. TGN has probably the finest knots you can buy but they are pricey!
Interesting, Andrew! That glue they use must be quite slow-drying. Hard to imagine accomplishing that without getting the glue everywhere.
Expert work!
The 2 Simpson knots I have cost me a bloody fortune to get, but I'd buy them again in a flash.
Thanks Bill. I think they are worth their money in gold but I guess I said it wrong. I won't delete it though. You see others but I have just tried a couple & you get what ya pay for. I just sometimes can't get the right words out but that's the classic me!
My bad. Open mouth & insert foot!
I used to make custom brushs for resale, been at it for about ten yrs,The hair simpson uses is the same hair that you can get from TGN.
The advantage that simpson has is they can put a knot in an extruded cheap plastic handle that cost maybe $1.00.
You cannot spend a day making a custom brush and pay what simpson used to charge for a knot and expect to be able to sell them.
They're the only ones I'll buy now no matter the cost. I want quality not cheaply priced! Like I said, ya get what ya pay for. I am the kind of person that will pay a little more for quality. Just like my tools of my last profession, I bought Snap On tools as opposed to Craftsman. I was making more at the time & when you are turning wrenches on expensive machines, you don't want to break a simple torx socket, slip & put a scratch down the side of an expensive chrome outer primary cover on a Harley which is what I saw other's do from buying cheaper tools. I'm not saying Craftsman is bad either but there is more quality in Snap On & they cost more but are worth it. I only used that as an example.
I bought a couple of brush knots from a different vendor & I got what I paid for. I refuse to sell them but rather use them myself. They are badger hair but the one I use most has had a few hairs fall out of it. I'll replace them when I can. I hope to get some TGN knots soon.
Shavemac sell knots. The newest Silver tip two band gets great reviews.
