Another combination of acrylic and wood. The top is Amber transparent acrylic and the base is Briar burl with plateau grain. Still messing around with how to sand these wood/acrylic combinations. Generally when I sand solid acrylic brushes, I like to keep them saturated in water when I wet sand. I keep them very wet which I find improves the wet sanding immensely. With the combination of the wood, I can't do that, so I add teak oil to the entire brush and use that for sanding the entire piece. Seems to work all right but is def more of a pain because it's so much thicker than water. Next time I think I'll try bringing the wood up to final sanding grit, saturate it in oil, and then proceed with sanding the acrylic with water...... Hope it works.
