Has anyone worked with Japanese Lilac? I cut some large branches off an old tree and was wondering if I should save some pieces for projects. I might try to carve spoon or something like a Finnish kuksa.

haven't used it but keep some anyway as you never know it could make a brush or scales
I kept some branches of a Jasmine tree I trimmed
and it came surprisingly nice as scales, like a natural imitation ivory

I have turned a Lilac brush handle before and the wood is much like a soft maple. Hang onto some for sure.
I made a kitchen spatula out of lilac 25 years ago and it is still beautiful and in perfect shape despite being used almost daily If I can figure out how to add a picture I will
Ok Im back after much travail I have donned my rightful persona and am bringing "hopefully" a picture Attachment 241778
