Question; how many hours were required to cut, sand and glue up the segments before actually turning?
I have an idea, but curious to hear your take.

8 hours approximately, before I turned on the lathe is my best guess.

That's about what I figured. Makes the brush that much more impressive knowing the time involved before you even mount it on the lathe.

Well that's the best time to do it. The sanding is pretty boring.

Is there a reason why you turn the piece towards you while sanding?

Visual?

It seems the dust would go away from you the other way.:shrug:

I suppose I could flip my lathe around backwards....:shrug:

It only spins the one way. The model up from this lathe, you can actually flip a switch and have it spin away from you. That would be cool to be able to do that.

Or put it in the middle of the room.:D

What little lathe experience I have I could reverse direction.

There is always a reason but as obvious as the answer may seem unless you ask you won't know the answer.
