Keeping with the Inlay theme: Brass Inlay with Monogram
First things first. My apologies to Grazor and his previous post. I was in the process of getting my pics uploaded when I saw your Paua inlay brush posting. First thought was "damn fine looking brush" Second was "Crap, everyone is going to think I hijacked your design or am just trying to top your brush". :aargh: Not the case sir. Just bad timing on my end. So, keeping with the inlay theme:

I had a box of brass drawer pulls laying around for years thinking I may find a use for them. I got inspired, and decided I could use them in a brush.
Started with a piece of rosewood.

I mounted the pull in the chuck and used an angle grinder to shape it into a smaller diameter.

Used epoxy to set it and the lathe acts as a vice to insert it.
I then used a band saw to trim the excess and the angle grinder to shape it flush with the wood. Got to be careful: the brass heats up and the epoxy fails if it gets too hot.
Found a local engraver to initialize it. These 2 are going as gifts to colleagues.
