3d printed handle
Hey all!
I plan to 3d Print a brush handle from a carbon fibre impregnated filament, I have a few questions though!
1. does anything special need to be done to where the knot is glued in to ensure it stays? or is 2 part epoxy good to go?
2. What type and where can I get a good 'all around' brush knot without breaking the bank?
****I also need it to be in Canada so i can get it in time!****
3. any suggestions for shape since the 3d printer can pull off some more complex stuff than a lathe or other more traditional methods!
thanks everyone

I use marine epoxy so water does not affect it.

Me too. That stuff dont never let go. As far as shape, i dont really like the long handle type that cant stand up. But i do like a wider handle with a good area to grip easy. When they have lots of rings and design it not as easy to grip. Id recommend going thru the pics on the shave of the day to get some ideas.
Will be waiting to see it.

Talk to MikeB52, he might just have a knot hanging about if not maybe Harrywallymossy

Harrywallymossy ended up helping me out!

Glad you got set up.
2parts epoxy will work quite well. Marine grade, slow cure is stronger finished bond, as others have mentioned.
Want to see wip pictures if possible.
Neat experiment.

Could be a chance to have a look at things like the old Rubberset 400 handle shape.
This is an interesting thread and I would really like to see pictures of the finished brush.

Hey Chris, really looking forward to seeing what you can do. I've seen some pretty amazing things printed out on those printers.
Make sure you get the hole diameter right or things might be wonky when you go to glue it in. For that knot I gave you, I'd shoot for a 7/8 size hole.
Like I said today too, try and shoot for a 46/48mm loft if you can.

great info!
will do, ill post some potential 3d models in the next few day, and we can have a pseudo vote on the best design!
