And your exhaust pipes too... giving a convenient way to get that CO inside your car. Fortunately, you can usually smell the exhaust of a car.... a 10 year old car tends to burn a bit of oil and such.

Leaving a window open is an option, but around here for 6 months of the year.... it's kind of nippy!

I just went to Home Depot & put this one in the car, back seat, nobody rides there. $19.00 at Home Depot & it works. I put it in at the Home Depot & walked to the back of my 4Runner to open the hatch to get some flex ties; the alarm was in my hand & went off immediately detecting the exhaust at the rear of my car.

Somewhat remarkable to me, to read about the number of people who die of carbon monoxide poisoning each time we have a hurricane that knocks power out, You would think people who use electrical generators running on gasoline would be aware of the hazards and place them accordingly. :thinking:

The main issue I have seen with cars/trucks is when someone gets stuck in a snowbank and plugs the exhaust then runs the car to stay warm. I know one person who committed suicide with car exhaust and another that tried. The one that couldn't do it couldn't stand the smell/effects. He later accomplished his task in a different yet not easy way.

It's from total unfamiliarity with the equipment or not paying attention to the details.

"Hell if generators are really so dangerous, then why does everybody sell them? All this fuss is just corporations covering their a$$e$. " I have heard this one before.

It does help to read the instructions!

I have a surface supplied diving outfit that floats in an inner tube. The flag is mounted on it so that the exhaust is held downwind of the intake.

Things like "logic and common sense" are used by both employees, when speaking to management, and corporations, when writing safety instructions for the end customer of their product. Neither management, nor the end customer, will allow themselves to be intimidated by anyone using such devious tactics.

After all, if it were dangerous, they wouldn't be allowed to sell it, right?

I would call it "colourful cometary", with no offence intended to anyone. However, the bit about the employee to management was partly the reason why I tossed in the towel and retired.
