I have sat on one jury. Pretty agreeable to all of us. I did get a good free meal out of it though!
I've only gotten one jury summons. It was for a higher level court that was over a hundred miles away and the trial was expected to last more than a month. For those reason I with regret filled out the form explaining no one else could do my job and being absent for a month would delay the research of many scientists for over six months. That released me from my only opportunity for jury duty.
I always have wanted to be on a jury. I have some sort of overdeveloped sense of right and wrong and so have little tolerance for dirtbags who flaunt our laws. Odds are pretty good that I will never serve on a jury.
Well much against my better judgement I rode a horse I had never rode before today. I figured all would be good with just a little walking or a slight trot but the SOB took off on a Gallup and I couldn't get the damn thing to stop. My foot was stuck in the stirrup and I knew I was going to die!
It's a good thing the Kmart Store Manager walked out and unplugged it.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,:rofl2:
I miss those horses out front of the store,,,,
Kinda makes me wish I had mom and dad's old station wagon.

:hmmm:
Many memories in our old station wagon. Thing was so tough it took 1 deer, 2 t-bone's and over 200k to put 'er out of 'er misery.

Much as i malign it, for it really is a bag of crap, the commodore has done 260,000 km. Every so often something stops working and i have to decide whether to fix it or just bypass it.
hey Ed
Are those ladders for your electrical work?

I would like to pretend tgat they are for something more exciting but alas yes, along with a 3 & 6' double sided step ladder. The extension mainly just weighs the car down and uses fuel but when you need it you need it.
I like the kangaroo catcher on the front of the car.

About 10-15 years ago "Deer Whistles" were all the rage here in Wisconsin, until a cop went on TV bashing them after he blew up a deer going 70-80 mph (115-130 kph). Haven't seen one on a car since, except as a joke...
The roo ones seem to work, i havent hit a roo yet and you get a lot of them round here.
I suppose that nothing is foolproof but it would be interesting to see stats for deer strikes and see if more cars without the whistles hit a deer than cars with them.
If he was coming round a corner then that may have been part of the problem, i am not sure how directional these things are.
there is a better version out there this will have to do for now.

Looks like a heck of a lot more than just blood in that truck....

How Effective Are Deer Whistles?
I kinda wish this wasn't true, but it doesn't really look like they work well. However, there being so many deer in my neck of the woods (and a whole lot more out of the 'burbs), any positive results may help...
The motors in Holden cars including the V8 Chevrolet range are good for 400,000 km plus if maintained properly. It's everything else around them that seems to take a beating. NZ roads are pretty rough in a lot of areas, hard on the vehicle. I imagine quite a few Aussie roads in the outback areas are similar.
Know a lady who has a deer whistle business and she let's charity groups assemble them for fundraisers. People must still be buying some.
Oh look Hasenpfeffer and I'm starving....
Have a great day...
That's 386,000 miles. Wow!
I know this is an inside thing but last I heard it was around Elgin and is still going.
I didn't want to deal with the brake likes that had rotted out. I had traded the seat bottoms from the left to right as I usually drive alone. I had long ago traded the right door lock for the left etc..................
That is impressive.
Hey it is still going, i paid $2,500.00 for it about 4 years ago. it was an insurance write off due to hail damage.
it has taken a fair bit of abuse too, it used to belong to the company i used to work for we used it as a spare van basically, loaded up with 4 guys, all their tools, a roof rack full of gear and a trailer of materials.
since owning it it has been serviced once, had the aircon regased and been to a mechanic for a waterleak (which i ended up fixing), 1 battery and 2 windscreens (one of which was my fault), one new tyre and i have put on new front brake pads and topped up various leaking fluids. Seeing as it has been my business vehicle when i am home it has more than paid for itself, however the following no longer work:
1- ABS
2- Passenger window
3- Heater
I know it gets awfully hot in Perth, but does it get cold enough for a heater?
I stumbled upon this and believe you me, the next time 'I' stay at a motel I'll be doing some checking!!!

When you travel take one of these,,,,this particular one here is what I use. It runs on 3 AAA batteries,,,, just take a small roll of double sided tape with you, should you stay in more than one room. you will want one for the balcony too, should it be accessible.

It's an alarm ,,, that you place the control to the door frame & the small sensor to the door,,, or vice versa, depending on the way the door is shaped. The two pieces when aligned next to each other, complete a circuit,,, when the door is opened, the circuit is cut & an alarm sounds,,, works great on doors or windows.
