I'm not real sure but maybe I had a long lost brother that I never knew about.
From the sounds of this Obituary I just might have.

Pisses people off. Naw. Thats not you Roy. Is this what i have to look forward too when i get old like you? Reading obits? :rofl2:
There was an online thing about the obit so I went looking for the whole thing.
I don't know about now but years ago the local newspaper back home printed the obits on the lower right hand of the front page. I can remember my granny looking at the paper and saying:
"Must be getting old, don't know nobody that died".:hmmm:
My wife still gets the paper delivered. Not sure why beside it works great to line the bottom of the bird cage. Im sure she reads it, but why. On-line would be free. Guess for the same reason she reads books in print. She old!

Well as it can and does happen--I'm a day late and a dollar short.
My father was a sports nut. He loved most all of them (he did not care for golf or tennis) however he could tell you the rules for Australian Rules Football (that's when I told him he needed to get rid of the sattlite dish).
Anyway his favorite Basketball Player passed away yesterday.
Here's one from the Celtics posted yesterday:

My postman was here while I was outside working on a project. He handed me my mail plus a card about their food drive and he challenged me to 'Break My Back' on Saturday.
I found that a bit strange as he's just now back on the job after being off for several months recovering from back surgery. So I said, 'Now wait a minute, somethings not right here' and he smiled and said 'Don't worry, I'm off on Saturday'.
I got a big kick out of that. Now where's those gallon cans? :w
Wish I had some extra cash---

Back when I was a kid I enjoyed building models.
There were the regular sized ones and some that were quite a bit bigger.
Well, dad and I worked for quite a while on a bigger one once I was able to save my paper route money and buy it.
It was a blue Corvette Stingray.
When it was done, it sat in my room on my bureau for years. I went to sleep every night looking at it.
Needless to say that a Corvette Stingray had been on my bucket list since I was a kid.
Maybe it was just a dream...

I 'think' that the guys had watched the Blues Brothers Movie one too many times.

if they had been paying attention to the movie they would have realized that a Chevy Cruz just isn't going to do the job! (any smart person would know it has to be a Dodge Monaco or a Dodge Charger)

When I first moved to Walla Walla Washington the Chamber of Commerce sent me a 'Welcoming Packet' and that packet included all kinds of history, facts etc about WW. Now that was 40 years ago but back then in that packet is said that WW had more trees per capita than any other city in the nation. I wouldn't doubt that one bit. If you get up in the hills and look down into the valley you'll see this cluster of trees surrounded by wheat, fields, grapes etc.
There's laws to protect trees here. For instance if there's a tree in the parking and it's say 'overgrown' you have to request permission to have it removed AND you have to replace it with another tree. There are several trees in WW that are record holders. See here:
Champion Trees
I enjoy good trees. With that said the tree in the backyard of my neighbor's duplex was nothing but a pest! When it was blooming it put out so much crap that you couldn't even BBQ as it got all over your food.
The landlord removed the rain gutters from the back of the duplex as he struggled to keep it free of leaves. Due to no gutter not only have I but so have my children and one grandchild slipped and fallen a few times over the years on ice OR if I hadn't removed the green slime that builds up on the steps and other concrete (That area is North and shaded a lot).
Well lo and behold the guy who bought the house adjacent to the duplex contacted my landlord and apparently they split the cost of having the tree removed.
The job took two days but now maybe I can get some rain gutters put back up!

They still need to grind the stump out but that'll only take a bit.
I will say that the people in the apartments behind me are going to find that they will be running their air conditioning more as it blocked a lot of afternoon sun from that building.
Several years ago I worked with a guy who thought he was God's Gift to women. I'll admit that he was handsome but his drinking was his curse. (I once saw him stagger out of his rig to check into a motel/he was on Company Time while he traveled) He'd been married twice and divorced twice and had two children.
Long story made short. Due to his drinking he was sent back to his store and friends told me he looked like shite.
I only found out later that he'd killed himself and my friend who let me know told me that he'd attended the services and there was only himself and the guys two children there.
I guess you reap what you sow. With that said, I had tears reading about this man's situation and the response of the community around him. Attachment 310289

Pretty cool video showing a huge range of trees from the tiniest to most gargantuan (a species which I had not heard of til now). Guessing the 0.1 m grass image is included for scale:

Tried my hand at a 14th century crossbow today
3 shots, from 40 ft away.
Attachment 311185
First shot hit the 40.
Second the 80, left of center.
Third, second 0 in the bull..
Was pretty happy with my aim, and got a thumb pump from the gent running the exhibit.:D
Did this in the actual outer wall garrison of the Prague castle while touring the place. They had the range set up along the inside of the one wall.
Cheers..
I just stumbled upon this story. I do hope that everyone, everywhere can open and watch what a young man did to show his stepfather his love.

Just learned my son & his wife are separating. They’re the parents of the 3 year old grandson who is my avatar. Sad news....
Sad news indeed.
Let him know you love him and stay in his life as much as possible.
That's a sad situation.
Take comfort in the fact that you will always be Dad and Grandpa.
All you can do is give them your love and support.

I have been married twice, the first one when I was 20 and it lasted 6 years and I blame myself for the divorce. I wanted to still be able to party with my friends, go to the hills 4-wheeling etc.
That marriage resulted in a single child who was 2 when we parted. To this day she speaks of how proud she is that her mom and dad managed to stay friends. She remembers the times that her mom and I shared her birthday or a Christmas.
When my brother passed a few weeks ago I asked my daughter if we could travel together to his memorial and she said sure. The next day she called and said her mom would like to also go with us. The three of us had a wonderful trip.
I tried to have the same ind of relationship with my second wife who decided that after 25 years of marriage she wanted to play the field but once she found her new 'buddy' that was out the window.
Fortunately our two kids were 12 and 14 and they ended up living with me instead of their mother.
What I'm getting at is that I do hope that the parents can work things out so that they can at least sit down and talk as there are things coming up in that little one's life that they can't envision.
I hope all works out for the best.
If you haven't seen this before it's worth a watch, very funny, LSD testing on British troops 1964, there's also a very funny one with the same experiment carried out on American troops.

I voted this afternoon!
My step-son that lives with me and the wife pasted his test last night. Now he is a Master Electrician at the age of 32.
