Hey...can we please stay off topic here...geeze.
My bike saddle broke off this morning. Second time in less than three years and less than 4000 km! Also, the police broke into a car in front of my house two days ago around 22:00.
Quit leaving your drugs in your car in plain sight!
It wasn't my car!
Though they were my drugs....
One way to get rid of the significant other!
Hmm, i have never had that happen ever, but if the clamp is bent or fatigued you will never get a satisfactory hold and if the bolt used to replace it last time was poor quality then maybe the combination of issues caused it, you could probably replace the seat post cheaply, or even for free if you can find a bike that is being thrown out, though i think the diameter of the tube may vary, either way i would replace it as it could be quite unpleasant if it fails on you.
In my experience if you find the right bike shop ie one that has quite an active repair shop or is run by an enthusiast they will often give you good advice on whether you need to replace the whole thing, and if you are really lucky they might have a secondhand one that you could get.
Thanks Ed :) I just replaced the bolt and hope it will last until I got a job, which may be from September if I'm very lucky, and can afford a completely functional utterly new vastly reliable splendidly unused bike.
My testies agree. I was lucky it broke off less than 500 metres from the university, and last time less than 500 from my house, it made for a short walk. The workshop at the university had a bolt and nut in the right size :) Last time, I got those from a bike shop, that's the one that failed this morning.
I just talked to a friend on his new cell phone. He is 70+ years old and it is his first! Glad he has a land line so I could call him there and explain things.:rofl2:
He is thinking about getting a laptop....
