CPR - First Aid - AED

I have had CPR/Self-aid/Buddy care many times while in the USAF. One day I finally had opportunity to use it at a car wreck. An old woman ejected from her car. There were 4 of us surrounding her, We each checked for carotid pulse. Some said yes, some said no. She was face down in a ditch. After a quick discussion we decided not to do anything due to risk of spinal injury and needing to roll her over and reposition her to do anything. The fire station was 1.5 miles up the road and we could hear them coming. In the end, she expired before they loaded her on the helicopter.

Paramedics told us we did fine considering the situation. It was not a fun situation to be in though...

Used to have to get the certs every 3 yrs, total PITA,hospital rules.
Funny story,A good friend,75 yr old pathologist that ran the autopsy lab refused to do it.
They threatened to suspend his Privileges if he did not, he told them to go pound sand,not going to do it.
When asked why he would not,he flat out told administration,Because for me and what I do it is a conflict of interest:)
They waved his requirment.

How would you like to live in a small town where the ambulance service is provided by the same guy who owns the only funeral home in town??

I believe it CPR would cut into his buis also:)

We had a local funeral home donate a defib to our department once. Imagine if they put little plaque type things on them. How'd you like to be a family member when we walk in
with a defib that says "This AED Donated by ________ Funeral Home"
