A lightning bolt generates temperatures five times hotter than those found on the sun’s surface.
When he was a young academic it was well-known that Ivan Pavlov, the physiologist famous for his work in classical conditioning, regularly frequented a pub near his lab in St Petersburg, where he was renowned for staying until the closing bell.
Interestingly, whenever he heard the closing bell he'd jump up and exclaim "Damn! I need to go feed the dog!"
James.
My name is not Sam.
My name has been abbreviated, but every one calls me Mick. Abbreviated was just too hard to say after a session at the pub.

The name on the sign that marks the hill is "Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapik i maungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu ", which translates roughly as "The summit where Tamatea, the man with the big knees, the climber of mountains, the land-swallower who travelled about, played his nose flute to his loved one".
Tamatea was a famous chief and warrior. One day, while travelling through the back of Porangahau, he encountered another tribe and had to fight them to get past. During the fight his brother was killed. Tamatea was so grieved over the loss of his brother that he stayed at the battle site for some days. Each morning he would sit on the hill and play a lament on what is called the koauau or Maori flute.
At 85 letters, it has been listed in the Guinness World Records as the longest place name.
