Now this looks pretty simple and makes a lot of sense, I'll give the guy credit, puts together a pretty functional air conditioner.

Now that beats and ice block in front of a fan.
Wild, how ingenious. How did you edit out the advertisement at the beginning ? I went direct to youtube after watching your posted vid and there was one of those 'skip ad in 5 seconds' preliminaries. Annoying. If I knew how to get rid of that I'd be grateful.
When I first saw the thread title I thought of a Honeymooner's episone. Jackie Gleason was sitting at the kichen table with a block of ice in a tray and an electric fan behind the block. 1950s ingenuity. :)
It was before my time, but I loved watching, "The Honeymooner's", on my first trip to New York, was awestruck at the statue of Ralph outside the Port Authority bus terminal, live television with superb writing...something they've forgotten how to do!!
In terms of the commercial, I wait until the ad is done, you should see a re-direct, and then I cut and paste that URL once the video is playing...hope this helps.
Thanks for the post, might have to make one of those for the times I'm working on the car in the garage during the summer, the simple box fan just isn't cutting it any more.
Old hat. They sell and have sold for years air coolers that are pretty similar. We used to use them in our surveillance vans in the summer. A big box you fill with ice and a fan and you get cold air. Just fancier looking and way more efficient.
Home Depot actually has a bunch of new little cooler devices. Misters attached to fans and things that wrap around your neck LOL. It's like they know something we don't yet :<0) I like the battery operated one but it's pricy for my taste. Same principle but a hose in bucket of ice water I think with a mister shooting into the fan.
Flash back to the early '70's. Bought a Fiat. ( no idea why) Had front wheel drive with the spare tire on top of the engine. One day i was at the dealer and he wanted to show me something on the car. Carlo had the spare off the engine and there was what looked like a large plastic box under where the tire rested. Asked why it was there. Carlo, originally from Italy said: you know there cars don't have air conditioning. So in Italy the air from inside the car circulates through this box. In Italy they put a block of ice in it and it cools the inside of the car!!
(Yes, one of the worst cars I ever had!!)
I have this little device I bought years It really works and I guess it's some principle if your neck is cool your whole body feels cool.
