It is time!!
I've poured myself a single malt and I'm so ready for this game.
My mind says Germany will take this, but my heart says Argentina.
Either way, let's hope it will be a good game, worthy of this championship!!
That's not how I thought the first half would have played out!! Nail biter!
It's an absolute disgrace that the doctor allowed Kramer to continue. That guy was out of the world and looked like he didn't even remember the difference between left and right. When he has finally take off the field, his eyes were dazed and unfocused. Red card for the doctor.
I must have been watching a different game..
I saw lots of attempts to score goals.
Albeit with slightly lesser risk than what we have seen a lot of in this championship.
The fact that they were unsuccessful doesn't make the game bad in my book.
Trying to neutralize players like Van Persie, Robben, Higuain and Messi is good tactics, we have all seen what they can do when they get a couple square feet to play on.
I'm goin' crazy over here!! 1-0 HOLD 'EM GERMANY!
Congrats to the German team, they played well and deserve this.
Darn it!
I can finally rest. What a game. Been waiting 24 years for this day. Yes.
4 STARS!!! 4 STARS!!
Congratulations to Germany. A great game.
Is crying allowded in soccer ?? ....LOLu
Allowed.....
A lot harder to win this game then I initially thought. Very nice game, very nice team, no vanity, no tattoos, and incredible way to play footbal, although today they were very nervous.
Congrats Deutschland!!! What a goal from Götze. Both teams played well but better won. Was almost too exciting to watch for me and wifey.
Messi surely was one of the best players of the tournament but totally nullified in this game. In Sailor scale Boateng and Romero were the best players of the game while Schweinsteiger was the one who took most of the shameful pain.
Now i have a problem. I have 2 years to spend until European championships. I'm wathing regularly Champions league from telly (specially Dortmund and Paris st Germains) and Finnish 1st division live (my wannabe-son-in-law plays at the local St.Karins team) but they are not the same.
Yes, thank you, I believe I WILL have another.

I will end it.
Thank you to all the countries that participated and showed great support for their country and club. Every country deserves recognition. Everyone put in their blood, sweat and tears.
I hope to see all of you in 4 years!

Who would have guessed that the FIFA soccer balls were made in India.

Interesting link - thanks for posting it Max.
Who would have guessed that same country of well over a billion people, an astounding number of which are poor (not American poor but dirt poor generation after generation) wouldn't be able to put together 25 guys who can kick a ball around. It's the easiest sport to play as far as equipment needed...
Their politics, infrastructure are so fragmented that developing any sort of nation wide program (for anything) takes a major effort backed by huge motivation. It's not that it can't be done. If there was money to be made, it wouldn't be an issue - India would be in the WC Finals every 4 years. See all the masters, doctorate level high techies and doctors. Education is good if you can afford it. Athletics...not a priority unless it's cricket. And even then it's not what it could be.
But make no mistake, they know how to stitch up some fabric (because $$ from exporting, manufacturing). I'm guessing there were no complaints about the balls - they probably exceeded standards.
It would be nice to root for the country of my ancestors in some sporting venue. Good thing the US now is respectable and I have friends and family from all over the globe so I can conveniently adopt a 2nd team as I see fit.
This year's tournament was great. The dynamic play definitely slowed as it progressed to the semis and finals. But that is usually the case as nobody (managers included) wants to make the mistake to lose the Cup. Argentina played well. Their D was very solid. I thought Messi had a pretty good game. It's not his fault that after he beats 4 high-level players and dishes the ball off that his teammates couldn't continue/link the play. Germany was very good though they did give up some chances that Argentina failed to capitalize on. The goal that won it was fantastic. It was great that it wasn't on penalties or a PK during the run of play. It took an absolutely breath-taking bit of skill from 2 players. That one play that was destined to decide this final. There was no defense for that. Argentina could only hope that the shot would hit the goalie (it barely missed his hands). It was a perfect goal for the circumstances. Congratulations to Germany! They were the best team of the tournament and deserve to hoist the Cup.
Now if I can just get my uncle, aunt (his German wife) and cousins (born in Germany) to shut up about it for a few minutes...
