I love serving with Marines. If you look at the military airfields in Afghanistan, the ones put up by Army have winding, odd roads that make zero sense. You check out Bastion, put up by Marines, and everything is square and logical. Marines are some great military folk.
One of my greatest regrets is that I never served with Marines. Many of my billets involved working with Marines, but I never got orders assigning me to them.
SEMPER FI!
This reminds me of a time when I was on "Habu Hill" at Kadena AFB (Okinawa, Japan) watching the bounce pattern. There were both USN and USAF panes in the pattern, and several other folks were watching, too. One turned to me and asked, "You're Navy, aren't you? Why is it that the Navy planes always land on the same spot, but the Air Force planes land all over the runway?"
I managed to contain my smugness as I explained that Navy pilots always land as if they were landing on a carrier, and that required extreme precision while Air Force pilots have the luxury of stable, long runways. My questioner was impressed.
To the entire Marine Corps, thank you for serving.
Ok I was there just a few years before loved it Thanks for your service Doc "Semper Fi"
To those that wrote a blank check for their lives to this country; Semper Fi!

Have a happy day fellow Marines. Semper Fi
