yes, americans will always be willing to help,right or wrong, we will help the muslum nations,than lose 5000 americans in doing so.
What do we as americans do for a half a million Homeless American Veterans? what do we do for 100K homeless Children?
Why do we grant immunity to millions of illegal imigrants.
America Needs to take care of Americans.
+1. It seems that we rarely encounter positive news in our media even though it happens abundantly everyday. The silent couple that donates $10,000 to a transitional house for men. The company that freely gives to orphaned children with no strings attached (not even for a tax break), the elderly man who sells his home $30,000 below fair market value to give a new family a chance. There are acts of kindness, generosity, and hope all around us but they are rarely reported. The news is full of natural disasters, robbery, wars, and death. We then perpetuate this by regurgitating only the negative and it becomes a mind set and questions are asked "what is wrong with people today?" America is full of good people that are family orientated and community orientated that would give the shirt off their backs for others. When the chips are down this is a great place to live. I don't believe we are any better or worse than other countries though. I believe Europe and the UK are great places with great people. I love this country because this is where I am from and where my ancestors bones are buried and where mine will be buried someday. It's a good place.Quote:

The right to bear arms. I dont know which is the greater of the two evils, my cellphone or my sidearm. But at least here I can and do carry both, and legally.
Freedom to have an opinion different than others.
Most important is freedom of worship.
Tolerance for the most part.
Solitude and space to get away from industrialization.
The melting pot of flavorful food, Every ethnicity brought a good recipe to the potluck.
Barbecue and the Blues.

'What is right with America?'
Plenty, none of which we can take for granted.
That one is special to me... as much as I loved shooting when I was younger, I haven't missed it at all in the last 14 years. There's a shooting range a 5 minutes drive away from home and I haven't signed up. I could also go hunting a mere 5 minutes walk from home, but still haven't gone either.Quote:

As a foreigner I tend to join the choir every time something that is rotten in, in our opinion at least, the land of the free and the home of the brave are being discussed.
That is great fun, but by no means does it represent the entirety of my opinion of America.
So, here's a few things I find great from my travels in the US over the past 30 odd years.
Hospitality.
This is a big one for me.
I simply love visiting your country, and I'm always left in awe of the very genereous and sincerely helpful people I meet.
Be it down south, in the midwest or on the east coast.
As a Norwegian I am raised to keep my yap shut when in elevators or standing in line somewhere.
To an American that seems to be just the perfect opportunity for a chat, at length, with just about any person they can find that will listen.
I felt mentally violated after my first 17 floors of elevator travel when I first went there.
But in a very good way;)
Creativity.
This could very well be presented as both a good and a bad thing, (Bernie Madoff et all anyone?) but overall, a whole lot of stuff we all use around the world originates from the US.
Acceptance.
Another impressive feat with your average American.
Even down south I've seen exemplary behaviour between most all people.
Be it between reiligious groups, different races or placement on the social ladder.
Optimism.
For some reason, most of you seem to be blessed with an almost child-like positive attitude.
Be it in sports or business as well as in everyday life.
When faced with an American athlete in just about any sport we just know he simply won't quit until the whistle blows.
Regardless of how much they are trailing at the time.
I could go on and on about this really:)
But now, back to bashing it in the other thread!
