I just discovered my daughter on YouTube!

Now mind you, I am aware of what her life endeavors are and the extent that she goes to to develop her professional life and maintain a marriage and child (and that granddaughter is another story). But, to my mind, there is a bit of notoriety to be on YouTube that I have put aside out of a combination of pride and enjoyment of her accomplishments. She is my eldest and has always shown a strong independent and intelligent approach to her daily life.

View this three minute video and if you have school age children wonder if they are being exposed to a creative approach to math as she has developed and had accepted by many school districts.

Aw come on, gugi, ya know theres a heck of a lot of shadowy stuff that can be found on the tube. The kitties and puppies are just a front. Find the code and break it and sit back in horror as the sartorial videos unfold before your eyes.

That is far beyond cool, and I LOVE what she's doing!

Music and math are inseparably linked to math, and it's wonderful that your daughter has found a way to tap :o into that link, and to thoroughly engage her students. I wish that my kids had had access to a class like that, and I hope that my grandkids are lucky enough to have a teacher like your daughter.

Please pass my CONGRATULATIONS to your daughter. And while you're at it, kudos to wherever she's teaching; such innovation isn't always embraced.

Ditto. Razorfeld, you should be proud. I was a little concerned with the whole "I discovered my daughter on youtube" but it turned out all right! Certainly her version of "square" dancing is more helpful than the one I was taught. Sometime you'll have to elaborate on the granddaughter story--or not!

A quick clarification and additional short story.

My daughter is not a classroom teacher per say. Her area is the teaching arts (also an editor of a magazine on the teaching arts.) This is a program that she developed along with a teaching arts mathematician. She gets hired by school districts that are looking at innovative methods of teaching to enhance their students experiences. She's on the web, Math in Your Feet - Home if you need more info.

The additional story is about her daughter, now almost 10, who, when she was about four told her mother that she needed a lawyer so she could copyright her stories so Disney couldn't steal them (!). God help us all when she reaches maturity.
