Did you ever have a tool intended for a specific purpose and then find that it is also perfectly suited for an entirely different use.
This just happened to me a few days ago and thought I would share it. I mis-placed my toe-nail clipper recently so I tried trimming my toes with the "flush cutter" that I use for removing pins from straight razors. Works great. Actually as good or even a little better. End of story.

I use a set of 4" flush cut side cutters for my big toenails, as they are very thick (some sort of weird birth defect) I can't really use anything else.

Well if you want a Heavy Duty set of nail clippers. Here's what was used in my household when I was a young buck.
The ones of the far left. I don't know if they would work for clipping 1/16th" brass or nickel silver rod but they went through toenails like a hot knife through butter.

More than once I've used a pair of aviation shears to cut the plates from the bottom of a lobster tail. :w
