Damn hipsters! ...Driving the price up on everything that should rightfully be sold for roughly the original "at cost", just because it's "cool" to be into/fascinated by things that have no bearing on how they actually live their life.... /end rant... :soapbox:.
Anyway. I, too, got some long underwear (commonly referred to as "long-johns" here in the states) at the local army surplus. Got the top & bottoms of both the "silk weight" and the "heavy weight (class III? )" for a total of about $50-60. Military grade, 100% polyester (former marine coworker: "...in the cold, cotton kills"), and they feel more comfortable that the ratty old cotton ones I grew up with. Even in the summer, at least one set is packed for long trips to see family at the opposite end of the state. Cause ya never know.
Not from a surplus, but I bought a case of MRE's directly from the manufacturer maybe 2 years ago. They are headquartered in my state, and are one of the top makers for the govt. ~$85 after shipping?
