What have you found at a "Surplus" store?

Anyway. I, too, got some long underwear (commonly referred to as "long-johns" here in the states) at the local army surplus. Got the top & bottoms of both the "silk weight" and the "heavy weight (class III? :shrug: )" for a total of about $50-60. Military grade, 100% polyester (former marine coworker: "...in the cold, cotton kills"), and they feel more comfortable that the ratty old cotton ones I grew up with. Even in the summer, at least one set is packed for long trips to see family at the opposite end of the state. Cause ya never know.

Not from a surplus, but I bought a case of MRE's directly from the manufacturer maybe 2 years ago. They are headquartered in my state, and are one of the top makers for the govt. ~$85 after shipping?

Years ago in NYC Kaufman's was famous and you could buy just about anything military surplus and they were the real deal. For many years now it's mostly junk they sell or if it is real it's been used to death.

Back in the 70's & 80's the surplus stores in Sydney & wall to wall Nihonto form WW2.
Never bought one :( but did buy a Shure Green bullet :)

No doubt, back in the day it was a wonderland for camping/hunting things. MUCH better and tougher items than anything else you could buy back then. Gun oil and solvent in green milspec bottles for a quarter comes to mind.
