She said its called Ortho Ground Clear. You got to be careful with the stuff as it kills everything and some plants that are close by.

Never tried the Veg on plants, but it sure keeps me away! Yuck!

I have the same rocks, and membrane underneath behind the pool, and as Roy says, the dead leaves and airborne seeds make for weeds which must be pulled, and or the rocks need be disturbed and overturned regularly. Usually both.

No way round it, only way to keep rock gardens clean is to spray and pull, can’t just spray or eventually you have dirt over rocks again.

Is that an original Martini - Henry rifle or a replica?

I like to use the stuff called Preen. I've had the same problem with my rock covered flower beds. Worked great for a number of years to keep away the weeds until the dirt sifted up (or came down) and started sprouting everything.

Sure is well oiled and cleaned. Firing pin and drop breech all work still. Crude rifling.

Four years ago I purchased a little portable vertical air compressor from Northstar. I find that it's now about $100 more than I paid for mine.

Anyway, it's a small unit that puts out 5 CFM at 90 Lbs and 6 CFM at 40 at least according to the manufacturer. But it's good enough for what I need here at the Boars Nest.

I've never been happy with the air filters, they looked way too small, deformed. I'd pull them out after a month or so of use but I don't use it all that much.

I got a wild hair up my arse and decided to upgrade the filtration and this is what I ended up with.


Stock Setup:



I used black pipe to set it all up and painted the fittings to match the factory color of the unit. Here's a pic showing what I used:

Two 3/4" street elbows
Two 3/4" nipples
Two 1" to 3/4" connectors



Attached and ready to run:

Are those dust drains on the bottom of the old ones?

I don't see any performance improvements but if your stats are right your children, maybe grandchildren will probably be the first to have to change the filter......

Your quest for improved aspiration was fraught with perspiration, consternation, and aggravation no doubt.

No those aren't dust drains, but the intakes.the top and bottom of the canisters seal against the rubber on each end.

The Red Arrows in this pic show the new intakes/they draw air from the bottom. Each filter is supposed to handle 35 CFM and filter down to 2 micron.



Regardless, I'll still be checking on the filters. Something I couldn't get my last Store Manager to understand was 'Preventive Maintenance'. More than once I told him that I could take him out and show him farm equipment that was 50-60 years old or older as farmers found out a long time ago that Grease, Oil and Maintenance was a hell of a lot cheaper than Parts and Labor.

No he never listened. He wouldn't schedule time to grease the equipment, check the water level in the batteries etc. So much for what his college education taught him.
