When I was a Lad
When I was a lad I served a term as lather boy in a shaving firm
I stropped the razors and toned the hones,
Cleaned the brushes, made scales of bone.
I cleaned the brushes so magnificently
That now I am the keeper of the Queen’s cutlery.
(Chorus)
Oh he cleaned the brushers so magnificently
That now he is the Keeper of the Queen’s Cutlery.
I studied studiously the intricacies of honing an edge
Mastering the mystery of slurry making.
I learned to pin effectively
And now I am the Keeper of the Queen’s Cutlery.
Oh he learned to pin so effectively
That now he is the Keeper of the Queen’s Cutlery.
My advice to one and all is this
If you want to achieve success and bliss
Apply yourself most assiduously
And you too can be the Keeper of the Queen’s Cutlery.
Oh he applied himself most assiduously
And now he is the Keeper of the Queen’s Cutlery.

Performed by the Orchestra & chorus of the Welsh national Opera who just so happens to be based down the road from me in Cardiff Wales. PS I'm a very good friend with Jason Howard the Welsh baritone we went through infants juniors and senior school together.

While at college we wrote a play that was based on Geology using mineral names and various definitions and theories and just about everything we could get. It was very funny if you're into Geology of course. The only line I remember was concerning "The hanging judge" from a hanging wall and he was introduced as Judge Syenite Granite a chip off the old block.
Yea I can hear you all laughing from here.
