Can this be done after I have already installed it a week or two ago?
I built my machine over 10 years ago and it is time to build a new one. This machine at 1 time had 3 operating systems on it. Linux SUSE10 64 XPpro64, and XP pro. I took the Linux off because I wasn't in the mood to learn that much about mounting software and getting used to a whole new system. Linux is not any harder to use these days (in fact easier in some instances) but it does have to be learned and gotten used to. I am looking at Linux Mint. Ease of use and learning curve is the main reason. You can run all the windows programs you want on it but it is a little different getting it downloaded and running. If you really want to get away from Microsoft Linux has the same type of programs (FREE) but once again there is the learning and in some cases converting files for use somewhere else. I know some of you won't want to go there for this reason and I understand completely. For those with any computer skills at all you can try these operating systems without actually installing them on your PC by running them off a DVD. Once again all free if you do the work.
I installed Windows 10 and taught my 82 year old Mother how to use her lap top and from that I can say, I really don't think I will use anymore MS operating systems once this old dog goes blue screen for the last time. The main reason is all the tracking they are doing with it. Even opting out of all you can they still gather more info than I care to pass out. I am going to miss this XP machine. I was getting T2 speeds out of it on Fiber with 200 ft. of copper on the end of the line at one time. There must be another way but dang the learning curve :<0(
Uninstalling anything Microsoft can wreak havoc. You could save your stuff, reformat and reinstall your previous OS. If you have a free weekend. That is just my first thought on this and have no experience backing out of recent MS upgrades. Might be as simple as eating pie but, I wouldn't bet on that.Quote:

Yes Jon I believe it still can be done. I have a Win8.1 program that I bought in case I wanted to go back and Geek squad said they can do it but, I guess I just gave up in light of the inevitable and dealt with it.
