Could it be for the drama?
People get overly attached to tradtitions. Plus that would be a serious program to develop and you'd have to get extensive input from thw judges anyways.

Oh yeah! Lol....
Computers will only get you so far in judging certain events. The ones that would be problematical are ones that require a score on artistic value. That is the human part that so many find they disagree on because humans have differing points of view on that sort of thing.
I suppose you could program that into a computer and then all competitors would have to do is figure how to perform to the liking of the computers program. That would make things pretty stale very quickly. Program a different taste into the computer and you will eventually get a different kind of staleness. I guess I just don't have as much faith in computers as some do as for everything. Some day it may be possible though.
Bob
But Bob, the majority of what judges subjectively judge are in fact the correct completion of mechanical movements. To me that's where the problem begins. As good as some might be no way they see everything correctly. Let a system based eye take care of that. A computerized system to determine if all the mechanical movements were in fact completed correctly. Say 90% of the score Then you can add a 10% component to the score for judging the touchy feely "artistic value". This could significantly reduce the continuous complaints that both athletes and fans have with the current system.
