The Times they are a chaning

I can barely remember the first phones I saw as a child. They hung on the wall of the little country store. you turned a crank on the side put a receiver to the ear and spoke into the thing that stuck out of the box. We progressed through the years until i finely was talked into a cell phone that was about the size of a small tackle box. Of course it got bad outdated so I ended up with a flip phone. I've keep it for many years. Well now i have one of those SMART PHONES. It's an I phone SE. I'm told it's the easiest of the bunch. I would hated to have gotten one of the really smart ones. It probably would be to smart and stuck up to allow me in.
I wonder how many of you out there who laughed at a TV show named THE MAN FROM UNCLE. My dad and I would sit and laught when he would pull out his fountain pen and say Open channel D please. Have fun ya'll.

How about the cartoon show where the guy talked to his wrist ! Did old TV shows and cartoons predict the future or shape it in our minds? I know I personally watched way to much Bugs Bunny :<0)

I'll never forget the day Dad bought his first color TV. He was so excited and proud. And then how upset
he got when he found out that almost all of the programs were still being broadcast in black & white, hahaha!
At that time, there were only 4 VHF channels (4,5,9,13) and 2 UHF channels (18,25). If you wanted to watch
one of the UHF channels, you had to go to the TV and fine tune the set to receive the frequency. The remote
was a box (the size of your hand) with 1 button that made a loud "clack" noise when you pushed it. It only
changed the channel one click at a time. If you were watching 4 and wanted to go to 13, you had to slowly
make 9 loud "clacks". Oh,, and the joy of being the youngest in the house. You were the remote!

I remember the days when if you got a call the from the no. of clicks you here was how many other people was listening. Party lines.

I too got an SE I Phone. They said it is the IPhone 6 guts in the IPhone 5 body. I like it. There is a lot to learn. I left the flip phone and got the SE. It has been a learning experience. I asked the nerdy kid at the store where to users manual was and he laughed at me....He said get on it and figure it out. I got a light grey Magpul case for mine.

You know, my grandad who lived in the mountains of North Carolina all of his life died about 10 years ago. He had never sat down in front of computer to my knowledge, or talked on a cell-phone, had air-conditioning, or ridden in an airplane. He would be lost in the world we live in now.

But what he DID do was help his Pa hand-build a cabin in which 11 siblings were reared. He and his family ate mostly what they grew, slaughtered, fished or hunted. He logged and did other brutal jobs to survive. He was a well-known woodworker (I still have a number of his pieces, not to mention my grandmother's handmade quilts). And he could entertain people on banjo and fiddle.

I believe that in a SHTF scenario you guys are discussing in another thread, he wouldn't even bat an eyelash. RIP James Reeves aka "Papaw."

Sort of back to the topic, I believe that a lot of the stressors that plague our modern world come back to the fact that the 20th century ushered in more change, and faster, probably than the rest of human history put together, and it has only sped up in the 21st-think about it!

The only phone color they had the other day was white but they did have black case. I was useing a sam sung military grade flip. I hope this I phone is 1/2 as tough. The SE is suppose to be the 6 cuts in a 5 case. I have a 16 year old Great Niece Her mother and a young lady how is a friend of the family that is trying to teach me. When i got the phone i also got the I pad along with it. My wife took it over and now through it she can as long as i have the phone tell where i am. don't know if that going to be all that helpful or not. we can face chat though once we learn how. Scary.
