i can appreciate that. had a friend smack a deadblow on a metal table behind me while i was lighting a acetylene torch. thought it was blowing up in my face.
i heard bernie mac once say, "if their old enough to walk and talk, their old enough to get hit in the throat and chest"...
Pop had the fastest belt in the county.
After a conversation in the shop about over-pressurized tires blowing up, I caught one of the new guys fighting a tire and having to jack the pressure up to get the bead seated.
So I snuck up on him with a paper bag and I'll just say watching him jump to the ceiling was worth the trouble I got into for that one. Some things never get old.
Once upon a time years ago myself and others used starting fluid (either) to set the bead on some of the tubless tires off trucks and trailers. you can imagine how some folks ran. also when i welded gas tanks you didn't want to here loud noises.Quote:

New trucks are not like old ones". They dont use dual lugnuts any more. The old timer was kinda pissed i jumped in but if the kid would have listened to him it would have been very ugly.
I told the kid to drive up on the block, remove the tire from the rim without pulling lug nuts. The shop forman came over to see what was going on and i explained. He said the kid needed to learn to do it the right way. But my way was good and the old timers way was wrong!
I left feeling good i might have saved the kids life.
When in Service Electronics school; there were a few Marines in the class...One of whom was totally against anything being unplugged...He would plug in any plug he found.
Well a small electrolytic capacitor, oil filled, was arranged across the far hidden cord end. He of course, first into the compartment, plugged it in. smoke and a big bang. No damage but he was a bit hincky and less go gettum, afterward...................
