I would be a goner, I still can not see it even with the highlight,
How big are those rocks? I thought that was a campfire so I was looking for a snake-sized thing.
I'd call them Boulders rather than rocks. Cougars are a decent sized animal.
From Expedia:
Cougars are slender and agile members of the Felidae. They are the fourth-largest cat species worldwide; adults stand about 60 to 90 cm (24 to 35 in) tall at the shoulders. Adult males are around 2.4 m (7.9 ft) long from nose to tail tip, and females average 2.05 m (6.7 ft), with overall ranges between 1.50 to 2.75 m (4.9 to 9.0 ft) nose to tail suggested for the species in general.
Ha, it's a cougar? Yeah, not your normal campfire then. It is funny how perception can just screw everything up in your mind.
Charlie, if you look at what's inside the red circle you'll see the white of the cougars face. Here's a decent close up of another cat;

If you are in cougar territory hike with someone slower and older, with really good eyes. Remember you don’t have to out manoeuvre the cougar!
...and carry a pistol with self defense rounds. I carry my sidearm whenever I go in the woods but not because of panthers, although we have them here. It's because of ferel pigs. They're not usually a danger unless it's a sow with piglets. They can be quite dangerous then.
I remember that old joke, but it was with two hikers who came upon an adult black bear who slowly started walking toward them. One slowly bent over and tightened his boot laces and his companion whispered "Do you really think that you can out run it"? And the other said, "I don't have to, I just have to out run you".
National Screw Your Buddy Day!! :rofl2::roflmao
