Coast guard is very important.
Saving lives and guarding the coast, of course!
Happy birthday, U.S. Coast Guard! Salute!
Harold is just a Leeeeeeetle bit proud! :w
True that, Tom. Son just started year 7 as a CG officer..
My nephew graduated from the Coast Guard Academy and serves as an XO now. His father is a seriously respected expert in maritime law.
Too much devotion to duty to me, but we sure appreciate those who make such sacrifices for the benefit of us all.
Happy birthday, USCG!! :beer2:
An old buddy retired from the Coast Guard.
He spent most of his service in Alaska.
The first time he had leave and came home I asked him how he liked Alaska and he said: 'I don't know, it's been dark 24 hrs a day' and the next time he was on leave and I asked him how he liked Alaska he said "It's sunny 24 hours a day and I'm tired of looking at it".
Yes I know it's never 24 hours of either day or light but I understood his frustations.
Globally it is an important service for many many reasons.
1985 however US Coast Guard picked my sorry butt out of a life raft.
It is an experience I continue to appreciate.
