Yes, if you hit them head on, especially at highway speeds, they have a tendency to try and kill you or at the very least give it a good try.

I’ve seen the result of a moose/18-wheeler collision near Kenora. There wasn’t much left of the front end of the truck. The moose didn’t look so good either.

When I travel up north, I try to avoid the hours either side of dusk or dawn in the hope that all those critters they warn you about on the roadside signs are asleep or deep in the woods.

Kenora. That is a town I have not heard in years. My father and I used to catch a seaplane out of Kenora to take us to a fishing lodge on the English River. Good times.

Would that be the one where the hood from a conventional cab tractor was completely off and the moose piled up a bit away?

Don’t know if the specific incident you refer to was the one I saw. The mess I encountered happened about 12 years ago. I suspect most truck/moose collisions result in something pretty similar. At least the trucker walked away. Automobile/moose meetings usually don’t work out so well for the occupants of the car.
