This was a few days ago:

I was at a friends house earlier today and the Sunday Edition said that the Pendleton Hospital ICU bed are full.

Walla Walla seems to be doing better:

I saw that article earlier, maybe yesterday. There's X amount of rooms. You can only send patients to other hospitals until they too are at full capacity.

The patient's either get well enough to be discharged or they pass away. Then the rooms will be available for others.

I'm fully vaccinated and I've encouraged my oldest daughter and her husband to get her kids vaccinated, whether they will or not, I don't know. It's no use talking to the youngest, she's anti vaccine, home schools the kids and believes every cock and bull conspiracy that comes along.

My son and his wife are fully vaccinated, but so far don't have children.

Yes, and additionally even if the hospital has an empty bed they have very strict patient to staff ratios and with the shortage of nurses and techs there is just a wall they can't breach.

Yes, I do understand the mechanics of it. What I cannot understand is this is happening in the US of all places. The overwhelming of the medical systems was highly preventable if enough people had bothered to get fully vaccinated and kept masking and social distancing. It is just a horror show plain and simple. I hope the situation does not get worse and does improve.

Unfortunately, yes it is a very big word and there is no logical reason for it to be so.
