Between the inner pic of the Tex Mex feast on the Tres Hombres album and the fact they were Grand Marnier fans....ahh the good things in life.
RIP DUSTY :chapeau
Damn! Sad to hear. They were always one of my favorite bands to cover when I was gigging.
Travel well old boy. Rest in peace
105th Harley party in Milwaukee, we were at the same hotel, I had breakfast with them al most everyday, big surprise they knew my wife, she was in a band that played on Beale and they all knew each other, couple of cool guys he’ll be missed
Dusty married a high-school friend's sister. Once, a few of us went over and shot pool with them.
Down to Earth ordinary cats. Some gold records on the walls. They had a drop-top .63 Chevy lowrider.
When they came to town, Don would strut down the halls with a fan of tickets and back stage passes sticking from his shirt pocket.
Naturally all the hot chicks got those. I went to see them twice. LOUD!
They did at least one episode of King Of The Hill where Dusty was Hank's cousin. That was really funny.
Yup a sad day indeed. I posted this over in the What are you listening to yesterday afternoon.

Before the made it big, my younger brother saw them as an opening act for some big name band but I can't remember who it was and when they were finished and the big name came on they were boo'd and the crowd wanted more ZZTop.
Only got to see them once and that was in '90 and they used the white fuzzy guitars. It was a great show and quite a loud one at that.
I have never seen them live. I have enjoyed their music over the years. I wore out a few cassette tapes in the day. I still like to press my lips together and make those fuzz guitar riffs, but only when I am alone, or alcohol is involved.
Over the last day or so I read that very close to the end Dusty said..."the show must go on."
I also saw somewhere that one of the bands technicians has been groomed to step in.
It will be real interesting to see what happens in the future.
No...it will never be the same...but
It would be crying shame if they go silent and both the live shows and music stop.
Pete <:-}
In the video that I've posted the question of when Frank went into rehab if they considered getting another drummer and Billy said "There is no other Drummer, There's One Guy"
Personally, I doubt that there will be ZZTop 'Band'. Just as Led Zepplin never re-formed with a new drummer.
I gotta agree.
Me either. I just can't see it. Think of the Beatles without one ore more of the original Fan Four. How could that be?
I stand corrected! :gaah:

Their guitar tech for the last 20 years is standing in for Dusty.
They played in Louisiana a few days ago.
