Yea, around 20 years ago there was a wave that crested with this straight razor and wet shaving thing. it's past pretty much leaving the old salts who were always straight users and always will be so the market has shrunk and with it the prices.

Many sites have either consolidated or shrunk or have gone under. All you have to do is look at this site as it was years ago compared to now with the traffic and active membership. Even Badger and Blade has shrunk quite a bit and it was the 600 pound Gorilla.

Do it because you want to do it, if you want to do it. If you could make money doing it, everybody would already be doing it. I had a niche thing going on for a while and it is no longer practical. I can't say I would have ever been able to support myself messing about with razors. I sold a few one-off customs but the money, spread out over up to 100 hours of work, was about minimum wage. I bought, inspected, honed, and sold Gold Dollars for a while, and I sold a LOT of them, and the factory started jerking me around and I just didn't have time to mess with it anyway so I quit. I restored a few vintage razors for myself and as gifts. I knew I wouldn't be paying myself much of anything for my work by selling them so I didn't bother. The big money goes for the big blades, yeah, but it's all relative. I predict you won't make enough money to be worth your while. If you enjoy doing it, and selling a razor is something you do just so you can buy another one to restore, you found your calling. But don't give up your day job.
