Things every man should know how to do.

Should know how to use a hand plane, scraper, backsaw , ripsaw, . ...

Should know how to sharpen a ripsaw.

Should know how to sharpen a set of chisels without a jig.

Should know how to seamlessly repair drywall.

Should know how to replace window panes and do a good glazing job .

Should know and understand the difference between oil and latex based paints and the value and suitable application of both.

Should know that none of this is important unless he's happy with himself and confident in his abilities.

One should be able to use one's old beer bottles to hold one's new beer, but one must first make sure the fermentation is done. If not, one learns quickly why champagne bottle are so thick and why the corks are wired down.

You beat me to the punch. Exploding beer bottles...been there, done that, didn't like it the first time. Besides ensuring fermentation is complete before bottling, you need to be careful about how much wort you use to prime the bottles for carbonation...too much, beer bombs; too little, flat beer. One other thing can cause bursting bottles, contamination. A wild yeast or a bacterial fermentation can digest sugars that your selected beer yeast left alone. Best case this results in off flavors in your beer...worst case, beer bombs.
