Great actor. Sad.

Sad yes, but the world still turns. I'm just pissed about Batman only being half done!
Batman is already in Post Production. So it should be ok
Well that's a plus. I'd heard that they hadn't done it all, but I just read they had.
I know I seem unsympathetic, but he was a known druggie. I don't sympathize with people who willingly do it to themselves *cough*Britney Spears. It's terrible, a tragedy, but he did it to himself.
Bobby Fisher died last week as well.
He was a chess genius.
He was loopy (like, having his fillings removed from his teeth because the government was controling him via radio waves...)
And he was treated piss poor by his own government when he had fulfilled his role (arrested for attending a tournament in yugoslavia when that was embargoed).
Yes, Fischer certainly was an interesting and intriguing character. But he was also a hugely outspoken anti-semite who never missed an opportunity to blame all the ills of the world on Jews. The one thing that prevents me from obliterating him from my memory is the fact that he was clearly a dozen sandwiches short of a picnic. I put his hate for Jews down to irrational lunacy -- actually, that's a tautology... plain old lunacy will do.
Apologies Ron!:HJ
I thought he also starred in the film "Four Feathers" but didn't see any mention of that.
Guess he took a few too many trying to get some sleep. Poor bugger.
It is sad to see a young man with so much going for him pass away at such an early age, even if he did himself in.
Who knows the circustances? I wasnt there and neither were you. I thought he was a fine actor and hate to see him go.
Heart disease is something that you can have simply because of your genes. I'm not sure what your shaving technique is, but it must be atrocious if you could possibly cut your throat. Even if you somehow did cut your throat, I should hope it was an accident. I count both of those as way different than suicide or substance abuse, which is a clear choice.
I have been on many pills for many different types of things, and to OD so bad that you die is harder than it seems. Insomnia's a bitch, but it's also not that difficult to drug yourself safely.
It is extremely sad that he's dead. I feel bad for his daughter especially. If he did do it to himself, I'm sad that he felt like that was the solution. If he didn't, I'm sorry that his life had to end so quickly, as he had a good thing going with family and career. He was a great actor and his talent will be missed.
I do retract my statement about him being an addict. I was thinking of someone else and I tend to get a little lysdexic in my head when I multitask:D
Here in Perth WA we are ver sad over Heaths passing, he may have suffered from the black dog, it aint no fun. Howsomever my condolences to his family friends and work mates. I thought him a fine actor and will miss his screen presence. I feel strongly that the press hounds public figures, I may enjoy what they present to the public but I have no interest in there private lives, and private they should stay.
Cheers to all
Gordon
FWIW... from TMZ:
Early Wednesday afternoon from WCBS:
Sources close to the investigation tell CBS 2's Investigative Reporter Scott Weinberger that along with the prescription drugs that were found in the apartment, police also recovered a rolled up $20 bill with narcotic residue on it.Early Wednesday, the medical examiner's office said an autopsy was inconclusive and that a complete investigation would take another 10 days.
Sources add they also found several drug packets containing an unknown substance. CBS 2 has learned these items were all listed on the official police report from the scene.
Why not?
Evidently "why not?" isn't long enough to fill a post, so I need to add some more. So there...
Who gives a rats ass!!!!
This would be my usual response also --- but Heelerau made me realize everyone has a family that is affected --- I didn't even know who the guy was really, and in general I do have more important people/things to worry about ----- but a soul is soul, just not one particularly important to me.
Justin
Call me heartless but I can't help but chuckle at how many people I've spoke to who all enquired as to how far Batman was finished.
All in all though, it still is awful news. Poor bloke.
It shows how shallow the world has become when a young actor dies and the main concern of many is if some movie is finished. I feel for his family and friends, it is terrible for any parents to out live their child. I know, I have seen the impact first hand. The suffering will go on long after "Batman" is a faded memory.
Not long before his death he gave an interview that he could only sleep a few hours a night so started taking sleeping pills. If he took two he could only get about 2 hours of sleep. Then he started taking more. He had made plans to meet a director he had worked with before the day after his death. So now the police think it was an overdose of sleeping pills mixed with other perscription drugs that shouldn't have been mixed together. I guess since commercials show how easy it is to get sleep with Ambien and other drugs people just don't realize the danger of sleeping pills anymore. And most have no clue what the effects of mixing there perscription drugs have on them. I work a rotating 12 hours shift at the plant and a lot of the old timers have to rely on sleeping pills to get any sleep at all. Then they have to drink a ton of coffee to stay awake enough to work. I hope I never turn in to a coffee and sleeping pill zombie like those guys.
What I find interesting is the massuesse not calling 911 but rather calling the dude's 21 year old girlfriend 4 times. And that girl (miss drug addicted Mary Kate) does not react by saying Call 911 now! but "I'm sending my private security over"
What a bunch of brainless twits.
I know, but realistically, we should expect to have both emotions.
Terry Pratchett has been diagnosed with Alzheimers. My Grandmother has it too, so I know what it does.
I feel for the man and his family.
But I also hope he will turn out more Discworld novels before the disease really takes hold.
I think it is only natural to feel both ways.
Over here, such things can only be obtained with a prescription.
The only things you can get without it are the basic things like normal painkillers, antacid, light desinfectant...
Codeine, antibiotics, sleeping pills and all sorts of specialty drugs are prescription only, based on the assumption that non medical people do not know when to use them and when not.
But to remain ontopic: if you need to sleeping pills and coffee to try and regulate your biorithm, then something is wrong, and neither is going to solve the root of the problem.
