I've just browsed SRP using my new touch I was given, and now I'm typing this message on it. Let me just say I'm stunned and blown away! If you're a gadget lover, check out your apple store and give this thing a whirl!

A friend brought his over to show me at Christmas. I was blown away. It really is an awesome piece of engineering.
It really is. After seeing things like the previous versions of iPod and especially the Creative line of mp3 players, I thought that was it. It was to the point that I figured it couldn't really be improved upon. Evidently I thought wrong. I really don't want an mp3 player that's my phone, and this does a good job of being just enough. It can access wifi and surf almost any website (grr, I hate safari- I use FireFox on my Powerbook), and has plenty of room for music. The only thing I wish I could add to it is the ability to have an external power source, but I think I can work that out too.
Obviously it doesn't replace the kind of power and ability of a laptop or desktop, but if you need to be able to use the internet discretely or don't carry a laptop, this is a perfect alternative.
I just bought a 32gb Touch last week. Besides the static/popping sound i get switching tracks....its one of the best ipod upgrades ive bought.
Hmm, I don't get that when I switch tracks:shrug: Have you tried updating your iPod's firmware? Mine is the 16 gig though- maybe there's something different about the 32.
See... now you guys need to hack the thing! I have had mine hacked now for about 6-9 months and I don't know what I would do without it!
Those iTouchs are really nice. All kinds of cool features. I'm holding out for an iPhone. I just moved and the Sprint service is terrible here. Gotta get out of my contract then I'll be in iPhone city.
I like it so much I had to give up my first born. Then my wife wanted one too. Bye girls, you'll be missed...but the iPod touch is forever.
Just kidding of course, but the loss of that many Benjamin's did sting a little.
I hope you got Applecare:D
Im on my second Touch now. I keep getting a Popping type of sound when i change tracks. Its pretty annoying..and im going back tomorrow for another exchange.
NOOOO...its not a sound effect.
Wow, that sucks. I turned mine up all the way, tried multiple songs, etc., and couldn't produce that. Maybe your store got a bad shipment:shrug:
Yeah....kinda pisses me off...going to a different store tomorrow. I dont download music....so its all CD songs. Very frustrating.
I'll bet. The most frustrating thing I'm experiencing right now is having to unlock it to turn the volume up or down or to switch songs. Annoying, but I'll take it.
dont know if you know..but from i believe any screen..if you hit the circle button two times in a row....it brings up a controller
Sir, you are truly a saint. God bless you!
:)
Glad I could Help.......I may not have a working one....but i know the Deal :)
Heh, that you do. I wish these things came with a better manual. I looked through the documentation that came with it and found it to be lacking. It seemed like more of an ad than anything else.
Manual? But that'll make the whole Apple tower crumble - it's supposed to be intuitive and no need for manuals! Yes, Apple is the best company when it comes to UI, but because of that they more and more get trapped in their belief that they make every UI everything perfect. Single button mouse - how many years was that?
And let me pour my sorrow - it is so painful to wait until they get their act together and make the large sizes touch as well. My music is 80GB right now and I so much wish the 160GB is a touch! I think I'll anyways have to give up on keeping all the good stuff lossless on the pod, kind of nice to have a single copy of your music vs. one for the pod and one for good system.
Don't get me started on the click brick and the unabrow- my words for the apple mouse and laptop button. The first thing I did when I had an iMac at work was to buy a windows mouse and toss that stupid excuse for a mouse.
Apple's products can be extremely intuitive, but there comes a point where it's almost counter intuitive. I wouldn't have thought to click the home button twice to get music controls.
I'm not so worried about the size issue. I don't really care to carry around all my music with me as I don't want to wade through it all just to find the perfect song. The only reason I would want more room is for movies- I think I could handle that:D
BTW, if you are having a problem with your Ipod touch in the car, via an FM transmitter, the easy fix is to check the settings>music>sound check, and make sure it is off.
