Just curious as to whether there are any other Diabetics on the board. I was diagnosed as type 1 34 going on 35 years ago. I'm on the insulin pump which has really helped my A1C's (6.3 last check). I lost an eye to diabetes in '92, before I went on the pump, and also have some neuropathy in my legs.
yeah I have it sucks huh? On the shots now and keeping things together.
yeah, it really does. I really like the pump tho, it gives you more flexibility as far as meal times and carbs, IF you like being tethered to it with 43 inches of plastic tubing. (mine is the pre-tubeless model)
I was diagnosed Type II 10 years ago. A regimen of pills and shots keeps things in line most of the time.

Eight years ago I was diagnosed with Type II. Started on low dosage pills 3 years ago. That with diet and a regular regimen of cycling keeps the numbers within the suggested range.
I have type 1 and have had it since I was about 3 years old... 22/23 years ago. I am on an insulin pump and have been for about 10 years. Currently I use an Animas. It is a great option, but the costs of my healthcare are ridiculous right now. I would give anything to have a cure or even just get free supplies.
How do you like the Animas? I've heard good things about them. I was torn between the Animas and the Minimed Paradigm 512 (was the newest one at that time). I wound up going with the 512 and have had to have it replaced several times while it was under warranty. Seemed that static electricity from certain materials at work would zap it, but I always had a replacement the next morning.
Diabetic here to. I was DX'd type II, but have been on insulin for about 15 years. I'm insulin resistent and at one time was taking 400 units of 70/30 per day. I've narrowed that down to 100 units fast acting and 90 NPH per day.
I have the normal neurop in the feet, legs, and hands. A ton of laser eye surgery with more to follow. fun, fun, fun. All this is done through the VA, in Iowa City, Iowa.
Yes, I can still drive, thank God, and able to get around fairly well. Otherwise, another day in paradise. :nj

That laser is fun :rolleyes: Have you had any bleeders yet? The vitrectomy is the worst. I'm restricted to daylight driving only, and can't drive anything without a left hand outside rear view mirror.(I didn' tknow anything existed that didn't have those)Quote:
