The results are anonymous, and It would be interesting to see if the US SRP voters match the actual result.

So far it's a landslide for McCain :)
But hardly statistically significant. It'll probably be another 24 hours before most of the US regulars here have voted AND have had time to check out the conversation forum.

Yes, I am comfortable with 'Old' technology. My hobbies are Leathercraft, Blacksmithing and Handloading my own ammunition. My everyday 'carry' watch is a 1926 Hamilton 992 Pocket Watch.
There is absolutely no substitute for horsepower. This applies to truck engines, lawn mowers and firearms. I particularly like older calibers, that start with a 4.
I have no interest in one of the new "Wonder-nine" tricked out handguns. I dislike 'Plastic' guns!
I am probably a throwback, but it's okay. I'm happy with it.

I'm with sixgun on needing more equal access for parties. I don't fully understand the reason the two big parties are the only ones that actually have a chance of competing. I fall in line iwth the libertarian ideals most of the time. there was one candidate I liked but am not going to vote for because it is just a throw away.
I believe part of it is financing, but part of it is just that entrenched republican and democrat crap. I'm very disappointed this year too, then again I was disappointed the last two presidential elections as well. Hell, I probably won't be happy till they bring Teddy back. :D

The major reason why JMS's poll was skewed by non-American votes is that for us, only 2 aspects are really relevant, and that is the approach to foreign affairs and dealing with the financial crisis.
there are only 2 realistic candidates:
Obama: will probably improve foreign relations, not start another war, and deal with the economy
McCain: will probably continue the same road as Bush, has a significant chance of dying mid term and leaving he US with President Palin: a right wing extremist, pretty stupid and christian fundamentalist.
So you see: all the internal issues that have a relation with the specified demographics in one way or another, are simply irrelevant for non-Americans. For the issues that we care about, there is a very large difference between both candidates. Obama is who we would prefer, for those very specific reasons I already mentioned.
If we had to choose based on everything that is relevant to you, the turnout would be more divided. But for us, the issue is much simpler. The only demographic that is relevant for us is that we are non-Americans.

I woke up at 6am this morning and turned on the TV to find out how the US voted.
Can I just say my respect for all Americans increased immeasurably when I found out the result. I had been concerned that even in this day and age race would still be a factor and McCain would get in despite what the polls say. Its one thing to say you'll vote for Obama but at the actual election nobody sees who you vote for.
Some of you will be pleased simply to not have Palin for a VP. Those people will no doubt be pleased.
So America I commend you. Congratulations.
