Quick reflexes!:D
I like to think about the song from the million dollar man when he dodged that shoe.
That's an indicator that democracy has been restored in Iraq.
Under Sadam Hussein that fellow would've won a free shave :chop:
HA! I saw his response to reporters later was something along the lines of "all I can report was that it was a size 10". At least he's got a sense of humor about being loathed.
A lot of people were taken aback by how adeptly Bush dodged that shoe.
People have short memories... Bush was always good at ducking 'his shoes'.
(I think I pulled a hamstring that pun was so strained.)
Funny what none of the reporters have mentioned is the symbolism of that. In many West Asian cultures, shoes (IIRC because they contact the ground, are made from dead animals, and are the lowest part of the body) are considered "unclean"; one step above excrement, really. Just a whole cluster of negative things. You could think of that as basically an extreme insult.
...and due to his lax legislation and preferencial treatment of the financial sector, that bank may fail sometime soon...so who will be laughing then?
Mark
:OT Only poorly managed banks will fail. Those banks that weren't complete idiots are doing just fine.
As soon as I heard about this, all I could think of was this movie clip:
YouTube - who throws a shoe (austin powers)
I looked at the footage (:D) Noone mentioned this yet, but I was extremely surprised that he managed to
- to start shouting at GW
- take off his shoes
- thow one
- throw the other one a couple of seconds later
And all without being shot or clotheslined by the secret service. It also took fairly long before a secret service agent got to GW. It almost appears as if they were a bit lax because they were in a controlled environment.
And yet, GW dodged that shoe very well indeed. Good reflexes on that man. And the way he dealt with it afterwards was good too.
