Well, I think what happens is that there is faith-based belief/thought, and there is evidence-based belief/thought. I am not so much willing to go by the first one in the main.

I do have more trust in evolution as being the origin of things, but only because the biological/geological/chemical/astronomical records are all pointing in that direction. There are a lot of gaps yet, but there is enough solid evidence that I am willing to say okay.

the assumption is no other animals have a conscience. It is arrogant because the inference is that humans are superior. I didn't mean to be rude, I was a little merry when I wrote that.

I think it's interesting that the majority of the people who have posted here seem comfortable with their views. I guess I could wonder why nature cycles as it does.

Here is a good read from Mark Twain on the topic. I first read this as a teenager and it still appeals to me. YMMV.

I have just read every post in this long thread.

As we all know, this can be an emotionally charged subject. In all these posts, not once did I see any insults, defensiveness, condescension, or personal attacks.

Well you see Don, you had gone through the trouble of reading each and every post in this long thread and then you very respectfully commented how there were no insults.
