It's a nice change to see someone on a talent show who simply has talent. Reminds me a bit of Alison Moyet. *
Most of the singers you get on these shows are unbelievably fake, shallow, vain and arrogant. Not to mention talentless. It's amazing what modern technology can do for a duff voice. I often wonder how much the shows deliberately enhance the popular contestants' voices while allowing the average contestants to be transmitted "raw". It must be most inconvenient for them when somebody comes along who can actually sing well so they can't engineer the result.
