Hey Lynn, I use nasal snuff sometimes. I like it alot. What blends have you tried?
Nasal snuff?
That's not the stuff people get arrested for, is it?
Blends?
Would that be, like, Columbian, West Coast, or European?
I have tried most of the Fribourg & Treyers, Poschls, Wison's, Gawiths and a bunch of others. Partial to the F&T and menthol stuff. Really like the Red Bull too. Lynn
When I went to the Chicago pipe show this year I wound up in a deep discussion of pipes with some Europeans. The German fellow sitting next to me took out some snuff and offered it to me. I politely declined and he said, "It's OK; it will make your head free." I grinned and declined once more.
He then offered some to the Polish fellow on his right, who gladly accepted. These fellows had a unique style of taking snuff: they poured a little out on the back of their hand (on the meaty part between thumb and forefinger) and brought their hands to their noses and snuffed.
The Polish guy's eyes got real big as he held his notsrils closed. The German guy had taken the bigger snuff and rocked back in his chair and started laughing heartily, which in turn broke everyone up. Out of about 8 of us there, those were the only two to take snuff.
I have enough nose problems, that last thing I need is to be fishing tiny bits of snuff out of there. But, to each his own. Enjoy fellows. Oh, and try the European style if you want to look cultured.

I used to take a bit of snuff, back when I worked underground in the coal mines...you cannot smoke underground but that didn't worry me as I didn't smoke anyway. We had a lot of pommies working at the mine and they regularly had snuff sent to them by family in the UK, sort of ended up as a bit of a show and tell to see you had the best snuff. It certainly clears your head especially when your nose is full of coal dust. Not sure whats worse for you the coal dust or the snuff. In any case I believe the importation of snuff into Australia is now banned. the method described for taking snuff is the one we used to use.
Michael, Just bought some more Gawith Apricot. Stuff is way good. Still have the Red Bull high on my list as well as the Wison's Raspberry. Lynn
Nasal snuff? Yes its really good. Beats smoking cigs anyday. For those unfamiliar with this it is simply powdered tobacco that is inhaled into the nose, not up into the sinus. All variety of different scents and flavors are added to the tobacco then allowed to age. Many different types of tobaccos are used with vastly differnt results. Some are mild and some are really strong.
One day I stopped into a cigar/pipe tobacco store and checked out what was available. I found a block of tobacco called Expresso and another called Pirates cake. I purchase a block of each and took them home. From there I dug out my electric coffee bean grinder and proceded to grind the tobaccos until they were a
powder. Then I mixed them. WOW! The express also had a chocolate flavor combined with the coffee flavor and the Pirates cake was a pireque scent. That is one dynamite combo!
Unfortunatley I cannot use it very much because it causes high blood pressure in my eyes and I have cataracts developing so its not a good idea to use it.
It does raise the blood pressure in everyones eyes temporarily.
But the main reason why I had to significantly reduce my use was that it causes my heart to go into arrythmyia. That I do not use it much anymore.
My doctor did agree that its better than smoking and in England it is used as a method to stop smoking.
The major advantage is that the noxious fumes created by the burning of tobacco, the worst ones, are not created. Also, its very inexpensive!
I wish I could use it more, :(
I just quit smoking 4 months ago after 35 years. I don't have any desire to get addicted to anything other than str8 razors. :)
I never give up a Vice without a fight......lol. Lynn
