Its been on our news as well. Outstanding!
-
That was &^%$#%ing outstanding work by all of those people.
As a father, it actually brought tears to my eyes.

Balls of steel man! That takes some nerve to stay & not give up when there's so much danger.

Same here. I can not fathom seeing my child in that much danger.
I am not preaching here, but I am a big "preparedness" guy...all those people screaming for a knife to cut the seatbelt, this is why I have an escape tool in my car, and why I encourange everyone to have one...even one of the little keychain sized ones is pretty damned good. I have one in the car for myself and in case I can ever assist another.
Stay safe, and thank you to all of those who step into danger to help others.

the firefighters didn't have a knife?
a shirt will make a nice emergency glove for the window
I'm surprised no one crawled inside after the boy, they had a lot more time than I had expected.
still a good save and remember the part about your shirt as a glove

I believe that would be good advice for breaking a house window, to prevent cuts, but windshield glass is made of much tougher stuff than that. You can see those guys wailing on it with a stick or something, and having a hard time with it. It's all cracked to pieces, but the plasticizer, or whatever they put on it still holds it all together.

Here is another one from today

is it so strong that 3 guys couldn't tear it?
I know for a fact that it is not

Aha, I see what you are saying: use the glove to protect your hand while tearing out the already broken window?
I had thought you were saying to wrap it around your hand when trying to break the glass in the first place.
