Being from the "near south" N. Ky. I grew up on Coke. There was Pepsi, but Coke was dominate as was Mountain Dew.
So lets lay it on the table.

Nothing is better on a hot day than a cold Coke. Nothing, not even A & W makes a better vanilla float than Coke. It is truly a versatile beverage. It really is a party in a glass. I mean what other beverage can go from ice cream to rum in the span of two hours?
I usually go with the Dr. to be honest. But for a cola I prefer coke... specifically I like an ice cold glass bottle of coke made with cane sugar (way better than the regular stuff IMHO) while chewing on some sunflower seeds. great stuff
I quit drinking pop but if I did it would be coke. That's what I used to drink.
I don't drink any of those sodas but often times I will have a rootbeer half diluted with water. Nothing better on a hot day...except maybe cold barley tea ( mugi cha )
I do not drink sodas at all, but if i had to choose, it would be either of those colas.
Now i have myself a beer and a Wana Tallinn liqueur.
Coke !! (with some Jack Daniels :)) :beer2:
I like Mt Dew, but we don't get it over here, so coke it is.
Though, there are a whole load of alcoholic beverages that rank higher for me.
it is bourbon and coke
not bourbon and pepsi
but bourbon and mountain dew is ok too
No vote from me. On a hot day nothing beats plain, unsweetened iced tea.

You left out root beer.
I don't drink any of this stuff very often, but when I do, I prefer a good IBC root beer followed by Dr Pepper. Not too big on any of the colas, they taste like medicine (not surprising since that is what Coke started out as).
Fixed!

The Southern U.S. :)
But seriously, I do not drink HFCS sodas either -- although I recently found some natural root beer (Virgil's) in my area which actually taste pretty good.
I would choose root beer, if it were an option, but since it isn't, Coke.
My friend brought over a bottle of Jack, one day, and all I had was Barq's root beer. Both of us agreed it was just as good with coke, if not better. I personally like, rum and coke.
Another option should have been none of the above. I won't pay money for sugar water with some bubbles and food coloring. YMMV. :)
I've had my share of soda pop and I used to like it. I became more health conscious as I got older and now my favorite beverage is water. I can't recall for sure but I seem to recall reading or hearing that Mountain Dew has the highest sugar content with 8 teaspoons in a can. In moderation the stuff won't do you much harm but it won't do you any good either.
I've been cutting back on my coke intake considerably, but out of those, it's Coke Classic all the way. If I have the choice, I'll take a tall half liter Mexican Coke in an icy bottle. No Coke tastes better than Mexican Coke. Thankfully I live amongst a considerable enough population of Mexicans that the grocery stores carry all kinds of Mexican drinks, including Coke.
Anymore, all I drink is decaf iced sweet tea. There is probably just as much sugar in my tea as there is in coke (as I call any carbonated sugary beverage), but the natural decaf part is what I worry about. Without the caffeine, tea ceases to be a diuretic and I can drink as much as I want without running to the bathroom every hour. My wife and I go through about a gallon a day:beer2:
I like slightly sweetened Green Tea.
However when I'm in the mood for a soda I'll grab any of these that is closest.
Can we add beer please? I don't know what any of the others are.
Ditto for me. Not much of a pop or iced tea person.
Apparently Aussie's dont like iced tea either, and consider it an abomniation to drink tea any way but piping hot (Aussie's jump in and tell me if I'm wrong here). I've asked my Aussie friends if they were in the outback and it was 110 degrees if they had the choice between hot and iced tea, most would immediately go for the hot tea. Now thats conviction!
I wish they could make a diet coke taste like the real thing and not have side effects like brain damage:rant:
Mike
I might be wrong but I thought americans were the only ones to drink tea cold. Kutztown here in pa make cane sugar sodas.
When I was in the states, especially college, Dr. Pepper was the only non-alcoholic thing I drank. Well, that and chocolate milk.
But I wouldn't touch coke or pepsi. yick. The Doc All the way!
Unsweetened tea here, too. Usually Green tea.
From what I'm to understand coke is the #1 cola pretty much world wide with the exception of one country. Pepsi due to a manufacturing error had a 3 month head a start in Guatemala. It's the only place I've been where Pepsi wins. They use cane sugar there too and it makes a big difference in the taste of everything. By the way water, coffee black, and tea unsweetened for me.
I quit drinking soft drinks over 2 years ago, but when I did, it was Dr. Pepper all day everyday. Woe to he who dared to drink my last cold one.:gwh:
