Love him or hate him. Think him a visionary or a socialist. Classify him as a patriot or a traitor, a hero or scoundrel, Edward Kennedy served his country for nearly his entire life according to the ideals he believed made this country the greatest in the world. He did so while reaching across party lines, working with conservatives and moderates, and realizing that compromise when you are in the minority AND majority is sometimes the way governance has to work.

I do not follow politics, but I have to believe that a man that comes from the "Camelot" legacy has "made deals with the devil to do God's work". I am sure that this is a quote from somewhere. Any man (women too) that loved his country as much as he did invariably made mistakes. History they say judges us by our failures more so than our successes. Maybe Mr. Kennedy will be judged differently.

The man truly did dedicate his life working much harder than he had to to accomplish things that would not affect him or those in his orbit. While his money and power was not earned by him, he did own up to his shortcomings.
There is an old, old, old, saying that states "One should not speak ill of the dead"...
But there is another I believe by Clarence Darrow that states "Though I have never killed a man, I have read many obituaries with great pleasure"
I would say the second one applies for me....Though I would never rejoice at anyones passing, I will neither mourn his....
I agree. While I don't wish death on most, even someone I disliked as much as Ted Kennedy, I'm glad his seat is vacant. It's about time some of the musty air in the Senate is moved out. Rest in peace...hopefully the voters won't.Quote:

Senator Ted Kennedy was larger than life, and his passing has left an enormous hole in all of our hearts.
And while Teddy was without doubt the "greatest United States Senator of our time," as President Obama said today, the powerful were not his passion. Teddy cared for the least among us.
He fought for the young. The old. The sick. The poor. People struggling with disabilities. Those denied the basic civil rights all Americans are entitled.
As the last living of four brothers, Teddy knew grief. Maybe that's where his legendary compassion came from. If he were here, he'd know exactly what to do. He'd offer comforting words, a hand on the shoulder, a listening ear. His loss is our loss, indeed.
On behalf of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to Senator Kennedy's family and countless friends. We've truly lost a shining light.
