I am personally against the death penalty for various reasons. But what he is saying here makes a lot of sense. For one thing I don't feel the death penalty it deters crime but elevates its in some instances. A rapist, knowing if he's caught will receive the electric chair, will simple kill the victim out of preservation. Unfortunately neither the concept of rehabilitation or the concept of making jail so horrible no one would want to go there has been shown to work. The criminals just keep on coming.
But jail is a joke now. Watch any real cop show and they constantly pick up repeat offenders because going to jail entails TV, not dropping the soap, and hanging out.
I will tell you what would stop these street toughs from ever wanting to come back.
No TV, no weights, hard work, making them keep their cell in a military fashion, military haircuts mandatory, gigs for being out of uniform. The personal discipline would keep them in line and serve them well after parole. GPS tracking the rest of his or her life. A crime is committed somewhere and thier GPS was there then it's a good chance they did it.
For people like those in this discussion. A small cell, 4 walls, no sunshine or fresh air, no means of suicide and a lifetime to regret being worthless as a human.
it costs more to execute a prisoner than to incarcerate him or her the rest of their lives. Unless you take away the right of appeal and then you are messing with justice in a big way.
